Biology Letters is a primarily online, peer-reviewed journal that publishes short, high-quality papers from across the biological sciences. Biology Letters must be short. This attribute will allow the contributions to be published rapidly. There is a limit of 2,500 words (including references and figure captions) and up to 4 displays (ie figures and tables), of which no more than 2 should be figures. Biology Letters does not publish announcements describing new species, instead these should be submitted to Proceedings B. The Editor of Biology Letters is Professor Brian Charlesworth FRS. During 2003 and 2004 Biology Letters had been published as a supplement to Proceedings B. From 2005 it launched as a separate journal. All content is free 12 months after print publication.
