This journal is concerned with original research, new developments, site measurements and case studies in rock mechanics and rock engineering. It provides an international forum for the publication of high quality papers on the subject of rock mechanics and the application of rock mechanics principles and techniques to mining and civil engineering projects built on or in rock masses. These projects include slopes, open-pit mines, quarries, shafts, tunnels, caverns, underground mines, metro systems, dams and hydro-electric stations, geothermal energy and radioactive waste disposal. Papers are welcomed on all relevant topics and especially on theoretical developments, analytical methods, numerical methods, rock testing, site investigation, design, back analysis, and case studies. For further information about Professor Hudson and the International Society for Rock Mechanics, you can access his homepage: http://www.demon.co.uk/isrm. THE HEMISPHERICAL PROJECTION SPHERE The Hemispherical Projection Sphere will assist you in working out hemispherical projection techniques. The link below shows the hemispherical projection net which may be copied as required, although care must be taken to ensure that any copy is perfectly circular - non-circular nets cannot be used. For those readers unfamiliar with hemispherical projection techniques as used in rock mechanics, an introduction to their use may be found in Appendix B of Engineering Rock Mechanics 1 available at: http://www.elsevier.nl/locate/isbn/0080438644 Hemispherical Projection Sphere
