This new international journal addresses environmental research which has particular societal relevance. A main objective of the journal is to build bridges among and between scientists, policy makers and decision makers in industry. It will therefore be relevant to academics and researchers working in the many environmental science disciplines who require an understanding of the wider implications of their research. It will also act as a relevant resource for those conducting studies within policy and the social sciences for the early identification of scientific research which has future policy implications. Similarly, another primary objective is to highlight and evaluate the potential economic significance of recent research, which will be of interest to investors and stakeholders in industry. The editors welcome contributions from research which considers the societal impacts of core environmental concerns such as: releases of pollutants and their transport and deposition modelling aquatic, terrestrial, and human impacts mitigation, adaptation, and response strategies Its scope will allow a wide variety of environmental topics to be addressed, including climate change, air pollution, toxic chemicals, hazardous wastes, and others. Contributions which enhance the understanding of trans-disciplinary communities of the current and future policy frameworks are also welcomed. All contributions will be peer reviewed and the journal will accept full-length original research papers, editorials, short notes on work in progress, and policy perspectives. In addition, the editors will facilitate active discussion of topics by accepting Letters to the Editor. Review articles and special issues on key topics are encouraged.
