Published since 1955, Indian Journal of Dermatology (IJD®), (ISSN: Print- 0019-5154, Online - 1998-3611) is the oldest living journal of Dermatology in Asia which is being published uninterruptedly under the same name since its inception and continues to be one of the pioneer medical journals from India. It is, in fact, one of the oldest peer-reviewed journals dedicated to this particular discipline.
The journal publishes information relating to skin, its ailments and different modes of therapeutics. It also carries articles on Leprosy, STI and HIV/AIDS.
In 1962, it became the first indexed Dermatology Journal from Asia.
1965, it became the official organ of the then Dermatological Society of India
From 1973, it is being published by Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists, West Bengal State branch.
IJD® became the official organ of AADV from May-June 2012 (Vol 57,Issue 3) without any change of name or ownership of the journal.
By launching the web version www.e-ijd.org in November 2000, IJD became the first Indian Dermatology journal to enter the Internet.
The journal publishes information related to skin-pathology and different modes of therapeutics, including dermatosurgery and cosmetic dermatology. Likewise, it carries articles on leprosy, STI and HIV/AIDS. The editorial board encourages the authors to publish articles addressing emerging techniques and developments in the subject specialty, in the form of Original investigations, Narrative and Systematic Reviews as well as Case Reports. The journal aims at publishing Editorials and Commentaries from eminent personalities on a regular basis.

Digital Archiving
Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.
Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.
CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.
Ahead of Print policy
Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.
Advertisements
While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:
- "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
- The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
- Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.
