The main aims of the Journal of Geographical Sciences (previously the Journal of Chinese Geography) are: 1) to report the latest research results and development in geography and its branch subjects; 2) to provide an international forum for discussion of subjects and exchange viewpoints related to environmental and developmental issues; and 3) to promote academic understanding and communication between China and other countries. It publishes papers of various theoretical and applied aspects of physical and/or human geography in China. Topics include academic findings, research results, applied theory linking closely with economic development, application of new technologies of environmental remote sensing and GIS to geography, systematic studies of man-land relationship, dynamics on researches of vital issues of sustainable development and change, and comparative studies of similar regions in China with elsewhere in the world. Articles concerning coordination and optimization of resources, environment, or population and development viewed from national and different spatial dimensions are particularly welcome. Papers are refereed before publication.
