Journal of Seismology is an international journal specialized in all aspects related to the study of earthquake occurrence. It provides a medium for rapid publication of scientific papers on observational and theoretical aspects of seismological research. Among topics included are: local regional and global seismicity and seismotectonics seismic hazard and risk earthquake engineering and earthquake prediction. The rapid growth of seismological research justifies a specialized journal which is exclusively devoted to this discipline and which enables papers to be published promptly and at a later stage to be retrieved more easily. The study of earthquakes is becoming an increasingly interdisciplinary science which not only encompasses geophysics geology and engineering but also history sociology and economics. Seismology as the science of earthquakes is understood here in this broad interdisciplinary way. Special issues will be devoted to studies on important earthquakes and to particular topics of current interest in seismology such as tomography crust-core-mantle structure and discontinuities earthquake source physics and evaluation of seismic risk.
