A quarterly publication launched in 1996, ASCE's Journal of Bridge Engineering provides an international communication forum for the exchange of information among practicing bridge engineers, constructors, and researchers. The journal, devoted exclusively to bridge engineering, reports on both the theory and the practice of the structural design, inspection, construction, and performance of bridges. From materials to rehabilitation, safety to demolition, papers address all aspects of a bridge's life. Research-oriented papers emphasize the potential impact of the findings on bridge engineering practice, and a practical applications section is included. Practice-oriented papers provide new information and unique solutions relating to design, fabrication, and erection problems. The use of new or modified materials and components, the history of important bridges, and insights regarding characteristics of particular types of bridges are also covered.
