The Archive nourishes historical research meeting the standards of the mathematical sciences. Its aim is to give rapid and full publication to writings of exceptional depth scope and permanence. The Archive casts light upon the conceptual groundwork of the sciences by analyzing the historical course of mathematical thought and precise theory of nature. While devoted mainly to mathematics and natural philosophy it also embraces experiment in the physical sciences. The Archive prefers articles written in English but will accept submissions in French German or Italian.
