Cold Regions Science and Technology is an international journal dealing with the scientific and technical problems of cold environments, including both natural and artificial environments. The primary concern is with problems related to the freezing of water, and especially with the many forms of ice, snow and frozen ground. The journal serves a wide range of specialists, providing a medium for interdisciplinary communication and a convenient source of reference.Emphasis is given to applied science, mainly in the physical sciences, with broad coverage of the physics, chemistry and mechanics of ice, ice-water systems, and ice-bonded soils. Relevant aspects of earth science and materials science are also of primary concern. Technological aspects are dominated by research, development and professional practice in engineering. This includes traditional major specializations of engineering (military, civil, mechanical, mining, electrical), together with other engineering subdivisions (e.g. hydraulic, agricultural, highway, sanitary, petroleum, ocean, airport). Coverage also embraces engineering geology, architecture, meteorology, hydrology, forestry, exploration geophysics, naval architecture, and so forth.
