在该研究中，糖尿病肾病（DN）定义为：出现白蛋白尿或估算肾小球滤过率（eGFR）<60ml/min/1.73m2；OSA定义为：呼吸暂停低通气指数（AHI）≥5次/h。在纳入研究的224例2型糖尿病患者中，OSA和DN患病率分别为64.3%和40.2%。伴OSA的患者中DN患病率是无OSA者的2倍以上（49.3%与23.8%，P<0.001）。

多因素分析显示，OSA与DN独立相关（OR=2.64，P=0.02）。平均随访2.5年期间，OSA患者中eGFR降幅更大（6.8%与1.6%，P=0.002）。校正基线OSA和AHI后，OSA仍是eGFR的独立预测因素。
