近期，美国临床内分泌医师协会(AACE)发布了立场声明，认为目前缺乏睾酮替代治疗可导致心血管事件的证据。

AACE生殖内分泌科学委员会兼迈阿密大学米勒医学院的Neil Goodman呼吁开展更多规模的研究探讨睾酮替代治疗对心血管疾病风险的影响。虽然近期发表的一些研究支持睾酮浓度较低可导致心血管问题，尤其是在老年男性中，但是AACE的立场声明强调“睾酮浓度低通常是心血管疾病的标志物，而并非病因”。实际上，睾酮治疗能为性腺功能减退症男性带来改善胰岛素抵抗、减小腰围、降低脂肪含量等方面的获益，还能逆转代谢综合征。

AACE生殖内分泌科学委员会认为，对拟行睾酮替代治疗的男性应进行彻底的诊断工作，根据患者的症状、体征及睾酮浓度而非潜在病因来指导治疗决策。另外，委员会强调，睾酮替代治疗的风险/获益比仍未完全明确。鉴于睾酮浓度较低通常是慢性疾病的标志物，有必要对接受睾酮治疗进行潜在心血管危险因素干预;合并血管症状的轻度性腺功能减退症患者行睾酮治疗时应更慎重，在行睾酮治疗前医生应与患者进行充分的沟通与讨论。
