既往有研究认为,孕妇在妊娠期若压力较大,则后代会增加许多疾病风险,如龋齿和哮喘等。但直到现在,很少有研究探究孕妇面临的压力与后代运动功能发育之间的联系。

为了进行深入探究,研究人员对2900名澳大利亚白人母亲进行了一项纵向研究。当她们孕18周时,需要完成一份压力问卷调查,其中包括经济困难、失去朋友或亲戚、分居或离婚、婚姻纠纷、怀孕问题、失业、搬家等。然后,在她们孕34周时,再次完成同样的压力问卷问卷调查。研究人员将孩子们分为三组:母亲在孕期无压力、压力较小及压力巨大。在她们的孩子10岁、14岁、17岁时,研究人员对孩子们的整体运动发育状况和机体的运动协调能力进行评估。

通过让孩子完成一些运动,如将一些小珠子从一个箱子拿出,放入另一个箱子;将小珠子放在木棒上;轻打手指10秒钟;将螺母和螺钉拧在一起,之后让它们沿着木棒下滑等动作评估他们进行精细动作的能力。

研究结果表明,孕期压力最大的母亲的孩子运动发育得分最低,精细运动能力最差。孕期压力甚大的母亲和孕期无压力的母亲生育的的孩子运动发育功能差异显著,孕晚期时经受压力对孩子运动功能发育的影响相比孕早期和孕中期更明显。研究人员认为,这可能是由于孩子小脑皮质的发展受到了一定程度的影响。

鉴于研究的结论,Beth Hands教授认为,医生应该重视孕妇遭受的压力,医护人员及时进行早期干预(心理护理和健康宣教),使她们在孕期经历的压力缓解,避免母亲经受的压力对后代运动功能和精细运动协调能力的影响。
