最近一项发表在国际学术期刊Nature Communication上的文章为毛霉目真菌的进化过程提出了新的见解。毛霉目真菌这是一类能够引起致命感染的真菌，这种感染在部分病人群体中越来越多，该研究发现的一些分子途径或可在将来开发为潜在的治疗和诊断靶点。

当人类的免疫系统功能减弱，毛霉目真菌就容易侵入人类细胞，引起致命感染——毛霉菌病。马里兰大学医学院等机构的研究人员经过研究发现了病人发生毛霉菌病的过程中所需要的一些关键分子途径。

研究人员首先对30种毛霉目真菌的基因组进行了测序，对真菌入侵过程中人类呼吸道上皮细胞以及引起毛霉菌病的三种最常见真菌进行了转录组分析，揭示了宿主和真菌中促进发病的关键因素，从中找到了毛霉菌病发病机制种一些必须的信号途径。

研究人员指出毛霉菌病发病风险最高的是存在糖尿病酮酸中毒，其他代谢性酸中毒，皮质甾类药物治疗，器官或骨髓移植，中性粒细胞减少症，恶性血液病，昏迷和烧伤等情况的病人。不过目前仍然没有疫苗或有效治疗方法能够阻止致命的毛霉目真菌感染，因此急需进行更多研究找到保护免疫功能低下的病人不受毛霉目真菌感染的新策略。

研究人员表示：“这项研究为发现和靶向毛霉菌病发病过程中的关键通路开启了大门。该研究得到的数据可以用来设计毛霉菌病早期诊断，预防和治疗的新策略。”
