eLife：婴儿如何进行快速的人脸识别？

近日，来自比利时鲁汶大学（University of Louvain）的研究人员通过研究发现了婴儿大脑发育期间的关键要素，其或比研究者之前认为的要早很多，相关研究刊登于国际杂志eLife上。利用大脑的右半球来感知脸的方式非常特殊，而且这也是我们人类区别于非人类灵长类动物的一大特点，有研究认为这种能力随着会随着我们学习阅读的能力而发育形成，但本文研究则表明，婴儿在四个月的时候就已经开始形成这种能力了

研究者Bruno Rossion说道，就好象大脑右半球受到损伤引起语言能力丧失一样，对右半球的损伤也会损伤我们区分脸部的能力，因此理解识别人脸的能力非常重要。文章中研究者利用一种带有电极的帽子对15名婴儿的大脑活性进行监测，这些婴儿坐在母亲的膝部，观看快速更替的图片超过20秒时间，这些婴儿共看到了48张不同的人脸图像，这些图像在视角、颜色、照明、背景上都不相同，同时这些图片中间还穿插着200张动物、植物、人工物品的图像。

每张图像出现的时间仅为166毫秒，相比其它图像而言，当婴儿每看到一张人脸图像时其大脑右半球就会出现一个特定的刺激波峰；研究者指出，本文对婴儿研究的方法同样适用于任何年龄段的人，该方法可以帮助改善个体识别复杂图像的能力。在分辨自然的视觉成像上人类远超于计算机，而人脸就是人类机体在发育过程中遇到的频繁复杂的社会“刺激”。

进行人脸识别的基础性元素就是我们进行个体区分的能力，如今研究者就可以利用相同的方法来阐明个体进行人脸识别的时间以及这种能力随着年龄增长如何变化；父母和护理人员都知道婴儿大脑发育的速度有多快，然而截止到现在由于技术限制研究者并不能获得足够的证据来进行证明。
